Long
time ago, I traveled to another country
where most people do not believe in God. One lady I met invited me to
her home and told me about her family. Although she and her daughter
were already Christians and her daughter who had brain tumor was healed
through prayer and surgery, her husband and sons still didn't believe in
God. Soon after her husband had a stroke and became paralyzed.
Hence,
she invited me to lay hands on and pray for her husband who was an engineer working for the government.
Before I did, I shared the gospel to the husband who, as a result, surrendered his life to Jesus and accepted Him as his personal Lord and Savior. As I prayed for him, the Lord gave message that he would not be healed quickly but that by daily Bible reading, his faith would increase and with his faith, he would be healed. As I was praying while holding his hands, I heard him groan as if he felt pain. I thought that perhaps I pressed his fingers too much that he experienced pain.
As they were taking me to the place I was staying at, it suddenly dawned on me that his groan, though a sign of pain, was actually a sign of healing. Otherwise, without healing, he would not have felt any pain.
The next day, I left.
On my second visit to that country four months after, I met again the woman and she and her friends brought me to the husband. He was actually able to walk and move his extremities. I was told that he truly read the Bible everyday since my departure. Hence, the promised healing came. In fact, he was already going back to work in the government's engineering department the next day to do some basic typing job to help in his rehabilitation.
Praise God! Indeed, healing comes to those who believe and ask for it.
"So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God"
